Through a Looking Glass

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman notices their neighbor hanging the wash outside. "That laundry is not very clean" she said. "She doesn't know how to wash correctly. She probably needs better laundry detergent."

Her husband listened but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang out the laundry she would make the same comments.

About a month later she looked out the window and was amazed to see nice clean wash on the line. She turned to her husband and said, "Look she has clean laundry on the line, I wonder who taught her how to do it correctly?"

Her husband then said, "I got up early today and washed our windows."

And so it is with life. What we see when watching others depends upon the purity of the window through which we look.

Loved It / Hated It

This is my first blog since after the holidays and after my surgery. I have been recovering with delicious naps, reading and watching movies.

Yes, that's me in my glamourous flannel frog pajamas recouping from surgery. (untouched photo -no shit)

In our town we have a wonderful little Olive Mill that sells local olives, olive oils and whatnot. I have become a huge fan of the olive. I picked up a book before Christmas titled "The Olive Farm" by Carol Drinkwater.

The Olive Farm

It is the true story of one woman's adventures in the south of France where she and her love buy a dilapidated old home and former olive farm. I really enjoyed this book. It was a relaxing gentle read that had me fantasizing about living in France.

With that said, I loved it.

The Limits of Control

As for movies - last night I watched what was probably the most torturous movie I have seen in years. It was called "The Limits of Control". Sheesh. Do not waste your time. Most of the movie was watching a guy walk around Spain drinking coffee and meeting stupid characters. Bill Murray had a small part and I totally felt like writing him a letter after seeing it. WTF Bill?

Anyways - Hated it! Don't waste your time unless you like being totally frustrated.
